This piece began as a watercolor pencil sketch because at the time, I was really intrigued by the colors of the landscape on this gloomy fall day. But I later became interested in the challenge of capturing this big landscape with all its variety of textures in scratchboard. Because it is difficult to show all the fine work on a large scratchboard piece, I have included two detail images below.
