An American coot paddles swiftly past, creating many ripples and waves in his wake.

I watched this bird swim by below me as I stood on a boardwalk at a local park. On this overcast winter day, my attention was captured by the patterns he made in the water and the lovely, muted colors of the scene. I ended up going back to the park several times to watch the birds and refine my drawing.
