We found this group of white pelicans lounging around Hagerman Wildlife Management Area in Idaho. It was a hot, sunny afternoon and the birds were resting and preening, striking up wonderful poses. The group included both immature and breeding age pelicans. The younger birds can be told by the dark feathers on their heads and the lack of a "knob" on the top of their bill.
